Setting Pandemic Road Map Priorities

Cowd-based economic priority should be avoided as it has the risk of worsening the pandemic — unless we are increasingly insensitive to the COVID-19 incidence and the mortality rate still showing high figures. Controlling the wild COVID-19 pandemic is admittedly not as easy as claimed — the coronavirus is even controlling us. Our entire society, nation and state inevitably have to be further restricted. Households and state budgets also have to be drained in order to survive the invasion of SARS-CoV-2. The aggression of the fiercest Delta variant continues to spread doom. For over a month, since 11 July 2021 the daily death toll has exceeded a 1,000 people a day. Also for a month, our mortality rate has become a world record. Even though — on this year’s 76th National Independence anniversary — new daily case increases declined to 20,741, the death tally remained high, reaching 1,180.

UNAIR Medical Professor gives tips on Self-Isolation at home

UNAIR NEWS – The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has hit Indonesia. The peak of increasing confirmed cases of this second wave will be higher than what happened at the end of January 2021. Therefore, it is important to know information about the right early treatments when infected with Covid-19. Prof. Djoko Santoso dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD.K-GH.FINASIM Professor of Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga (FK UNAIR) said that doing self-isolation properly accompanied by doctor supervision is something that should be done as early treatments. If it is handled incorrectly, self-isolation will lead to family clusters. “Self-isolation at home must be carried out properly to break the chain of transmission. Then it must also be carried out under the supervision of a doctor who plays a role in determining recovery,” said the professor known well as Prof Djoko.

Consistency in Fighting Covid-19

Insensible people who blow Covid-19 conspiracy theories and loath vaccination are few, but loud. It can influence public opinion so that there is distrust in the government's handling of the pandemic. As we are desperately struggling to contain the devastating attack of the Delta variant of Covid-19, Europe is raucously partying in soccer games. Soccer fans are enjoying live broadcast of the Euro Cup 2020 matches with the audience almost filling up the stadium capacity. The spectators cheer and prance, and the majority of them look to be feeling comfortable without masks. To enter the stadium, apart from the tickets, local spectators simply need to show vaccination certificates while foreign nationals must show negative swab test cards. How could this happen? England and Hungary, which are two among a number of the hosting counties of the Europe’s biggest soccer championship, claim to have vaccinated more than 90 percent of their citizens.

Promoting Indonesia’s ‘Red and White’ Vaccine

The issue of vaccine independence arose amid the ongoing tragedy in India, where a second, deadlier wave of COVID-29 has not only paralyzed the local health system but also frightened many other countries. Research for the production of a domestic vaccine, namely the Red and White vaccine, continues to progress. In a bid to smoothly get international recognition, efforts to develop a Red and White vaccine need to be immediately included in the World Health Organization website. Currently our vaccine candidate is not included in the list of 284 vaccine candidates there. ‘Blessed’ Homecoming and Indian Setback

It is an amazing turnaround initial praise won over the progress toward herd immunity turning chaotic in just a short time due to “herd ignorance”. The alarming spike in coronavirus cases in India should serve as a prompt reminder for our country in the face of Lebaran (Idul Fitri). It is also worth pondering whether promoting local tourism is justifiable while we prohibit mudik (Idul Fitri exodus). One large crowd is prevented, but another is encouraged. We need to adopt an attitude of protecting our own safety. Let us look at India, which is now in the spotlight of global concerns. This country of 1.393 billion people is big in many ways and this time it is related to the coronavirus. India began vaccination rollout on January 16, 2021 and as of early March, 18 million people had been vaccinated. At one point, more than a million jabs were given daily, which is a world record. The ambition was that it expected to be able to vaccinate 300 million citizens in just seven months. The ambition and the following vaccination progress drew praise from various parties, including many circles in Indonesia.
